Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Support

We recognise that students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background often have specific needs. Our Indigenous Student Support Officers can help you to determine your needs and provide advice and assistance.

We help you to get started

Our officers can assist you with accommodation, and provide advice on welfare and other support issues including program selection, career options, employment opportunities and financial assistance through Abstudy. They can also assist you with enrolment processes, put you in touch with lecturers, and liaise with government departments on your behalf.

We support you while you learn

We want you to succeed. We provide an encouraging environment that enables you to achieve your learning goals whether you attend classes on campus or receive training in a community setting off campus. For example, our educational program for teacher aide studies combines practical experiences at schools.

Whether you attend classes on campus or in a community setting you will have access to a network of services including advice on study skills and planning, group tuition, and support with personal and family concerns.
