1. When is the graduation ceremony held?
December 2008 Graduation ceremonies will be held in the C Block Auditorium on Tuesday 9th (Business and Community Education), Wednesday 10th (Health Sciences) and Thursday 11th (Design, Arts and Hospitality) December.
Please note the Diploma of Nursing ceremony will be held on Wednesday 17th December.
2. How much does it cost?
Students:
Students wishing to attend their graduation ceremony are required to pay $40 which includes their gown hire.
Guest tickets:
Guest tickets for the 10am morning ceremony are $10 per person.
Guest tickets for the 3pm and 7pm ceremonies are $15 per person.
3. How many guests am I allowed?
You may bring a maximum of two guests due to seating restrictions in the Auditorium. All children except infants will require a guest entry ticket to attend graduation.
4. What time do I have to be there?
Registration, photography and gowning will open two hours prior to the commencement of the Graduation Ceremony. Students MUST be at the venue 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony to attend their ceremony briefing. Students are encouraged to arrive early to ensure sufficient time is allowed for gowning and photographs.
Doors will not open for guests until 20 minutes before the start of the ceremony. Guests are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes before the commencement of the ceremony.
5. Where do I collect my tickets from?
Your ticket and guest tickets will now be available on the day of your graduation ceremony for you to collect. They will not be mailed out to you. Please collect your tickets upon arrival (before you collect your gown) from the registration desk in front of the C Block Auditorium, Ground Floor. The registration desk will be open two hours before the commencement of the ceremony.
6. What if I don't pass my studies?
There is always a risk when you register before your results are finalised that something may go wrong and you might not be eligible to graduate. If that happens, you are able to apply for a refund of your Graduation registration costs. If you are unsure about your academic eligibility, please contact your faculty.
7. Disabled access?
There is disabled access at Southbank Institute of Technology. If you have special needs (whether for the graduate or the guests), please contact Marketing on 3244 5191 when you submit your registration form.
8. What about graduation photos?
Professional photographers, Silver Rose, are available to take individual, group and family portraits. They also photograph each student with the Institute Director at the moment of presentation. They have a range of packages available, including framing services. Or you can take your own photos before, after, or during the ceremony if you wish.
9. What are the colours for my area of study?
The collar colours are:
- Gold - Health Sciences
- Blue - Business and Community Education
- Claret - Design, Arts and Hospitality
