SAIL Online Course
Do you need help with finding information, searching databases, referencing and assignment writing?
Southbank Institute of Technology Library has developed an online course called SAIL - Southbank Assignment writing and Information Literacy. The course is aimed at all Southbank Institute of Technology students. 'Information literacy' is the ability to find, evaluate and use information. This skill is essential for successful lifelong learning, both as a student and in the workplace.
SAIL is a self-paced 100% online course delivered through Blackboard, with expert help and support available via the Ask a Librarian email/SMS/chat service, or by visiting a campus library. SAIL was designed to help students overcome information overload when researching and preparing assignments. The course is made up of eight units that will teach students how to:
- analyse their assignment topics
- locate and retrieve information
- evaluate information
- use the library catalogue
- search library databases
- search the Internet
- prepare and write assignments
- reference correctly to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues.
SAIL is delivered through Blackboard where access requires a login and password. The SAIL course is FREE to all Southbank Institute of Technology students. To gain access to this course, please contact your campus liaison librarian or email your interest to: sail.sbit@southbank.edu.au.
