Room Booking Policy
The following are procedures for using rooms available in Southbank Library & e-Learn levels 1 to 4. These rooms include two Seminar Rooms on level 3, two Computer Rooms on level 2, Group Rooms on all levels and a Meeting Room on level 4.
Seminar Rooms (Level 3)
- There are two Seminar Rooms (3105/3106) on level 3 of the Library & e-Learn that are able to be opened into one large space.
- Both rooms contain a VHS and DVD player and monitor, as well as a data projector mounted on the ceiling. Room 3105 has a telephone.
- Teachers should place a booking through a Liaison Librarian.
- Booking these rooms for teachers is at the discretion of individual Liaison Librarians.
- Queries regarding teacher bookings to be clarified by the Institute Librarian if required.
- Uses for the room space include student/teacher presentations, viewing DVDs and VHS tapes, and special events.
- Training teachers to use the ceiling mounted data projectors is the responsibility of the Liaison Librarians.
- The Seminar Rooms are booked through Outlook: Public Folders > QLD TAFE Institutes > Southbank Institute > SBIT - Library Resources > SB > Rooms.
Computer Rooms (Level 2)
- There are two Computer Rooms (2106/2107) on level 2 of the Library & e-Learn that are able to be opened into one large space.
- Both rooms have ceiling mounted data projectors.
- White boards listing class booking times for these rooms are updated daily by e-Learn staff.
- Teachers wanting to use these rooms for online classes must book through the Manager, e-Learn.
- Liaison Librarians can book these rooms for Information Literacy classes as needed. Negotiation between Librarians and e-Learn staff over room bookings may be required during peak times.
- The Computer Rooms are booked through Outlook: Public Folders > QLD TAFE Institutes > Southbank Institute > SBIT - Library Resources > SB > Rooms.
Group Rooms (Level 1-4)
- Group Rooms are available for use on all levels of the Library & e-Learn space.
- All Rooms have a table and chairs and a wall mounted white board.
- Group Rooms are booked at the Loans Desk on level 1 using a specially created diary.
- Bookings can be made no more then a week in advance.
- The initial booking time is a maximum of 2 hours, although if there is no booking for the following 2 hours this can be extended on the day.
Meeting Room (Level 4)
- The Meeting Room (4205) is available for library & e-Learn staff use only.
- This room is not included in the Loans Desk diary.
- Uses for this room may include staff meetings, liaising with teachers, meetings with external contacts, etc.
