Food & Drink Policy
In the interest of providing a comfortable and positive learning atmosphere for our students, limited consumption of food and drink is allowed within the Library & e-Learn of Southbank Institute of Technology.
Cold food and covered drinks may be consumed in the Refreshment Zones located on levels 2, 3 and 4 of the Library & e-Learn. No food or drinks are allowed near computers.
Hot or aromatic food is not permitted in the Library & e-Learn. See below.
Definitions
'Cold food': Includes wrapped food or food in a closed container. For example:
- wrapped sandwiches and rolls; and salad and fruit
'Hot or aromatic food': Hot food, odorous or strong smelling. For example:
- hot meals- curries, noodles etc.
- hot snack foods- hot chips, burgers etc.
'Covered drinks': non alcoholic drinks that are covered with a bottle top or a plastic/paper cover. For example:
- bottled drinks and hot drinks with a cover.
All rubbish must be placed in bins and any spills should be reported immediately to staff.
Anyone who does not respect this policy will be asked to leave the Library & e-Learn or to dispose of the food or drink.
