บริสเบนเป็นเมืองที่น่าอยู่ ตั้งอยุ่ในเขตกึ่งร้อนชื้น หรือ sub-tropical ของรัฐควีนส์แลนด์ และรายล้อมไปด้วยทิวเขา Great Dividing Range ป่าธรรมชาติ น้ำตก และ ชายฝั่งทะเล
บริสเบน ยังตั้งอยู่ใกล้แหล่งท่องเที่ยวที่มีชื่อเสียงที่สุดของรัฐควีนส์แลนด์ อันได้แก่ Gold Coast และ Sunshine Coast
The Great Barrier Reef เป็นระบบนิเวศน์ปะการังที่ใหญ่ และซับซ้อนที่สุดในโลก อยู่ติดชายฝั่งทะเลห่างตัวเมืองบริสเบนไปทางเหนือเพียงเล็กน้อย ปะการังแถบนี้ มีขนาดกว้างใหญ่มากจนสามารถมองเห็นได้จากดวงจันทร์
