Design, Arts and Hospitality

The Faculty of Design, Arts and Hospitality oversees a wide range of programs that provide students with the necessary skills for a career in the diverse and challenging industries of hospitality and the creative arts. This faculty covers a complex range of study disciplines, grouped into four schools:

College of Tourism and Hospitality

Southbank Institute of Technology’s College of Tourism and Hospitality boasts a well-earned reputation as a leading training provider in this diverse and exciting industry. Programs have been developed with input from industry professionals to ensure that students receive the most relevant training and work-ready skills that are in high demand in this global industry.

School of Creative Industries

The teachers in the performing arts program at Southbank Institute provide me with the guidance to help perfect my acting skills. When I graduate I wish to perform in theatre or film and television. I know that by studying this course I will gain the skills to be able to do this confidently.

The School of Creative Industries incorporates programs in diverse and creative areas of study such as Contemporary Music; Floristry; Graphic Design; the Performing Arts; Photography; and Visual Arts, delivered in new, state-of-the-art facilities.

School of Engineering and Design

The School of Engineering and Design delivers programs in areas ranging from built environment and multimedia to civil engineering and Architectural and Computer Aided Drawing, and provides links with several of Queensland’s leading universities.

School of Industry and Trades

Programs are offered in a range of professional disciplines and trade specialisations such as Bakery; Binding and Finishing; Butchery; Graphic Pre-Press; Jewellery; Printing and Machining; Screenprinting and Signwriting; and Watchmaking.

Our programs are naturally very hands-on and oriented towards optimising students' employment opportunities.

The success of our graduates, many of whom have won industry accolades, attests to the high quality of our training. But we believe our students are already winners when they come to us, simply by choosing to follow their dreams.
